Kammprofile (Grooved) Gaskets

IDT kammprofile gaskets – also called grooved, camprofile or serrated gaskets – have a grooved metal core covered on both sides with a soft sealing layer. They need low minimum surface pressure to seal, yet withstand very high loads. Choose the facing to suit your media:

• Kammprofile gasket with graphite layers – for steam, hydrocarbons and high temperatures
• Kammprofile gasket with PTFE layers – for aggressive chemicals
• Kammprofile gasket with mica layers – for very high temperatures
• Kammprofile gasket with PTFE envelope – adhesive-free design

IDT’s LE-SAFE grooved gaskets are designed for low leakage in extreme conditions such as cryogenic, oxygen and hydrogen service; a batch test report from BAM (Germany) is available on request for oxygen applications.

RTJ, Lens & Weld Ring Gaskets

For high-pressure oil and gas piping, IDT supplies octagonal RTJ gaskets and oval ring joint gaskets in 316L stainless steel, F5 and soft iron. Metallic lens gaskets are available in 13CrMo4-5, C22.8N and DD13, and weld ring gaskets are used where maximum tightness is required.

Metal Jacketed, Corrugated & Spiral Wound Gaskets

• Metal jacketed gaskets with graphite filler
• Corrugated metallic gaskets with graphite layers – a compact alternative to spiral wound gaskets; also available with mica layers
• Spiral wound gaskets with inner and outer ring – with graphite, PTFE or mica filler

PTFE Gaskets: TFM™, Filled PTFE & Expanded PTFE

IDT’s UNIFLUOR® range covers every type of PTFE gasket:

• Filled (structured) PTFE gaskets – biaxially oriented PTFE with glass microsphere filler (Style 7550), quartz / silica filler (Style 7551) or barium sulphate filler (Style 7553).
• Expanded PTFE (ePTFE) – multidirectional ePTFE flat gaskets (Style 7745), ePTFE sealing tape (Style 7770) and ePTFE round cord (Style 7747).
• Modified PTFE – PTFE flat gaskets from Dyneon™ TFM™ 1600 and TFM™ envelope gaskets with inner diffusion barrier.

Fibre, Rubber-Steel, Mica & Tri-Clamp Gaskets

• UNISEAL® 3400 aramid fibre gaskets – aramid fibres and inorganic fillers bonded with elastomers
• Rubber-steel gaskets in EPDM, NBR and FKM
• Mica flat gaskets for very high-temperature service

FAQs

What is a kammprofile gasket?

A kammprofile gasket (grooved or camprofile gasket) is a metal ring with concentric grooves on both faces, covered with graphite, PTFE or mica. It seals at low bolt load and handles high pressure and temperature cycling.

What is the difference between RTJ and lens gaskets?

RTJ gaskets are oval or octagonal metal rings that sit in a groove in ring-type-joint flanges. Lens gaskets are metallic sealing elements with a spherical sealing face, used in high-pressure lens-type flange connections for maximum tightness and safety.

What is filled PTFE?

Filled or structured PTFE is PTFE blended with a filler – such as glass microspheres, silica (quartz) or barium sulphate – to reduce creep and cold flow compared with virgin PTFE. IDT offers these as UNIFLUOR® 7550, 7551 and 7553.
