Sealmax Style 900-I
Sealmax Style 900-I is a braided packing manufactured from low-sulphur expanded graphite yarn, reinforced with a glass fibre carrier and Inconel wire to enhance mechanical strength and extrusion resistance. A sacrificial corrosion inhibitor is incorporated to reduce the risk of galvanic corrosion on valve stems and stuffing box components.
Style 900-I exhibits excellent flexibility and compressibility, allowing it to adapt to stem and stuffing box irregularities while maintaining sealing integrity. It features a very low coefficient of friction, high thermal conductivity, and excellent resistance to ageing. The packing does not harden over time, has an extended shelf life, and remains chemically inert, except in the presence of strong oxidising agents.
Style 900-I is primarily used in valves operating under severe service conditions in:
- Power stations
- Boiler houses
- Petrochemical and refinery installations
- High-temperature and high-pressure process industries
It is a preferred alternative where the performance of graphite rings is required along with the flexibility of a braided packing.
- Not suitable for applications involving highly oxidising agents
- Performance is dependent on proper installation, stem condition, and correct gland loading
