Application
- Sealmax Style 9909T is a high-performance one-side adhesive joint sealant tape manufactured from 100% uni-axially expanded PTFE (ePTFE), designed for reliable sealing of flange joints and static sealing applications.
- It can seal weak flanges subject to considerable deformation such as glass reinforced plastics (GRP), plastic fittings and ventilation facilities.
- Style 9909T is used in pressure sensitive connections and applications where only a limited flange load is available, providing a stress sensitive solution.
Properties
- Style 9909T has one-side adhesive backing which enables quick, accurate installation and holds steal in position during assembly.
- Exceptional chemical resistance, inert to virtually all corrosive chemicals across a wide pH range (pH 0-14).
- Excellent compressibility allowing effective sealing of uneven, warped or damaged flange surfaces ensuring consistent sealing stress over extended service periods.
- Style 9909T is non-toxic and non-contaminating, suitable for high-purity, pharmaceutical and food grade applications.
- Wide temperature resistance suitable for both cyrogenic and high-temperature services
Installation
- Ensure all flange sealing surfaces are clean, dry and free from dust, oil, grease or old gasket material before installation.
- Apply Style 9909T evenly around the flange or sealing surface without overstretching the tape.
- Join tape ends by butting or light overlapping; avoid excessive build-up at the joint area.
- Assemble the flange and tighten bolts using a cross-pattern tightening sequence to ensure even compression.
- Apply bolt load gradually in stages to reach the recommended sealing stress.
- Re-torque bolts if required after the system reached operating temperature
